Stones

When it comes to interior spaces, the choice of stone is almost limitless. Granite, limestone and marble are highly versatile and can be used indoors for stairs, floors and wall cladding. Quartzite and onyx are excellent choices for decorative pieces with a luxurious touch.

For outdoor spaces, your stone needs to be resistant to water, temperature changes and wear. Of volcanic origin, granite and basalt are the most resistant stones available (resistant to atmospheric agents, pollution and wear). Given their textural variations and color palette, they offer a wealth of creative design possibilities. Limestone is particularly well suited where a uniform, lightweight design is required, for example for a Mediterranean-style terrace.

We are dedicated to supporting and advising you in the stone selection process, ensuring that the aesthetic, practical and financial criteria of each project are met.

Finishes

A wide variety of finishes are available for interior and exterior surfaces. For stairs and floors, it’s important that the surface is slip-resistant. This can be achieved with rougher finishes, such as flamed or bush-hammered, while for a cleaner look, a polished finish is preferable.

Stairs

Staircase design is of considerable importance in terms of aesthetics, cost, functionality and hygiene.

For example, you can choose between staircases with open or closed risers. A square-edged staircase has a clean cut, giving the impression that the steps are higher, while a staircase with an overhang widens the upper part of the step.

Tile layouts - "Calepinages"

The calpinage is the tile layout and determines the dimensions of each tile, which in turn define the overall aesthetic design. Besides stylistic considerations, the type of lay has also important implications for production and installation costs as well as maintenance.

Most frequent calepinages use square or rectangular dimensions such as 40x60cm or 60x60cm. Another often-used method is the Freelength Lay, in which the width is uniform but the lengths vary (e.g., 40cm free-length).

However, possibilities are virtually limitless and include Straight Lay, Diagonal Lay, Herringbone Pattern, Basketweave Pattern, Versailles Pattern and many more.
